ABOUT THE FILM
When Wenonah and Luc’s mother dies they must live with their overbearing father on his fur trade expedition and find a way to stand up to him to stop Wenonah’s arranged marriage.

This 1700s period piece explores both the realities women and Metis people faced at this time in Canadian history. Wenonah brings to life and celebrates strong, diverse characters. Although the film takes place in the past, the story draws many parallels to the modern narrative women face today.
